Myrtle Beach Vacation Rentals Staff Recommendations
When you aspire to seek out the most fun, most memorable, most extraordinary places a geographic region has to offer, we think it makes good sense to quiz the folks who live in the place you are visiting. The Grand Strand –including a wide swatch of sub-tropical paradise – is comprised of Little River, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island, as well as the port city of Georgetown. Stem to stern, the whole stretch is chock full of worthwhile places to see, amusements to remember, history guaranteed to intrigue, shopping to covet, and countless stories with which to fall in love.
All that said, here’s a concise (as concise as possible, that is) list of places, spaces and stories Elliott Realty employees believe worthy of note. Some of them serve up plain vanilla fun – which should, of course, be part and parcel of every beach getaway. Others deliver history – a delicious set of local minutiae that characterizes this slice of the Deep South. Georgetown and Little River, and every stop between, is deliciously rich with historic detail worth remembering. And then, there’s unpretentious fun – fine fishing holes, endless sandcastle contests, places where hidden coves are prized places for picnics and unplanned naps. There are other locations where shopping stops are treasured as fine wine, and then there’s the ever-changing assortment of rides, slides, games and golf that can – and will – bring smiles to everyone. Set aside worry, one and all will fall asleep happily exhausted.
Here’s a list of shops, stops and starry-eyed opportunities you and yours may want to consider when you head to the great Grand Strand. There’s nary a notion finer than a Grand Strand vacation.
Sara J’s seafood restaurant
Our family loves going to Sara J’s seafood restaurant in Garden City (314 Atlantic Avenue) which overlooks the marsh just before crossing the bridge to Garden City Beach. The food is consistently fantastic and has been the most delicious in the area, in our experience, for nearly 20 years. The atmosphere and coastal décor along with the view of the marsh are the perfect complement to an unforgettable dining experience. -Jimmy
The Grill House Restaurant
I Like The Grill House Restaurant located in North Myrtle Beach. It is a local place. Lunch is very reasonable – they have seafood, steak, Italian, and salads. Dinner is great. Nice atmosphere, great food and drinks. -Ron
The Donut Man
I love going to the Donut Man in Myrtle Beach (200 South Kings Highway) because they are open 24 hours and have the best, freshest donuts in town. My favorite is the raised sugar (have them microwave it for 7 seconds for an extra delicious treat) and the Bavarian Crème. My husband loves their coffee, which is roasted just for them. They also offer muffins, bagels, sandwiches, ice cream, specialty coffee and of course a ton of different donuts. -Corrine
Nakato’s
I go to eat at Nakato’s (9912 N Kings Hwy) with my family often. It’s a great Japanese Steak House that serves large portions (Habachi style) and their food is fresh and the chef is always entertaining! If you go for Early Bird specials, it’s not as crowded, and less expensive. -Rick
Clarks Seafood and Chop House
Clarks Seafood and Chop House at 720 Highway 17 N in Little River has beautiful outside seating overlooking the Marina. It’s a great place to enjoy the sunset and a cocktail – I love their Lemon Drop. -Taylor
Wonderworks
Wonderworks at Broadway at the Beach is a great way to escape the sun or rain for an afternoon. 4 floors full of interactive activities great for all ages! On our way out we always stop at the small amusement rides for the kids. -Laura
Bingo
Bingo on Hwy 9 in Longs; Crab Catcher’s in Little River (Mineola Ave) has great Seafood; and Patio’s restaurant off Mineola Ave in Little River – great food, atmosphere and entertainment (especially on Wednesdays). -Beverly
The Suncruz Gambling Boat
Two fun things that I like to do are: The Suncruz Gambling Boat. Sets sail twice a day with a day cruise and evening cruise – great fun! I also like Karaoke on Saturday nights at North Myrtle Beach Bowling Alley. Starts at 9pm and is located off 13th Ave South off Highway 17. -Lisa
Heritage Shores Nature Preserve.
I love walking the nature walk at Heritage Shores Nature Preserve. The views of the marsh are breath taking. There are signs posted of what kind of wild life to be on the look out for. There are a couple picnic tables scattered around to enjoy a meal while looking out at the water. -Melody
